September 3rd, 2014 – When it comes to software, one of the worst feelings you can have is when you end up buying a version and then you find out it’s just been replaced with a newer one. Fortunately, if you just purchased Fusion 6 directly at vmware.com or through one of their authorized resellers, then you may be able to get a free upgrade to the new Fusion 7. Here are the details how you can request your free upgrade through VMware’s Technology Guarantee Program:
- If you purchased from VMware.com – If you bought Fusion 6 on or after August 1st, 2014, then you should have already received your VMware Fusion 7 license key automatically via email. They are sending the upgrade licenses all customers during this time frame. Just note that it will be coming to the email address that you used to purchase Fusion 6 so if you didn’t receive it, be sure to check your spam box or contact VMware’s customer support for help. After you receive your key, simply follow the upgrade instructions that were provided.
- If you purchased from a VMware reseller – You may also qualify for the upgrade but it must have been from an authorized reseller (i.e. not from someone off eBay). The purchase must have been made between August 1st, 2014 and September 30th, 2014. You’ll need to send VMware a copy of your order receipt and your Fusion 6 license key(s) as the proof of purchase. All submissions must be made before October 31st, 2014. Here’s the link for more details.
If you purchased Fusion 6 prior to August 1st, 2014 then you will not be eligible for the free upgrade offer. However, you may qualify for the upgrade discount if you’re coming from version 6.0 or 5.0. Be sure to see our full VMware Fusion 7 coupons page for more upgrade details and all the other current offers now going on at the moment.
