Updated March 11, 2015: The dreaded tax season is upon us once again – Time for all of us in Canada to start thinking about filing our tax returns. Fortunately, if you are a Scotiabank customer, then you will be able to save on your tax filing software if complete through TurboTax.
Here’s how the offer works
Scotiabank has once again teamed up with TurboTax to offer their Canadian clients an exclusive discount on TurboTax. It doesn’t matter what level of a clint you are or how much money is saved or invested – Everyone is entitled to a 20% discount. That’s a pretty good deal considering that it’s live through the entire tax season (so all you last minute filers can take advantage of it too!).
To activate the discount, simply go to this branded Scotiabank-TurboTax page at the TurboTax Canada Store. Once there, just click on the “start for free” icon and the savings will be automatically applied to your purchase once it’s time to checkout. The program will recommend which version you should file with after asking a few basic questions about your tax situation in 2014. All versions are priced at the 20% savings regardless of the one you ultimately end up filing with. Below are the price points that you’ll be paying with this promotion:
Because the discount is an open offer – meaning that anyone who buys from the sale page will be able to save 20% – there is no verification taking place and no personal questions or bank info needed verify your status as a Scotiabank customer.
What are offers are available from TurboTax Canada?
Besides the partnership with Scotiabank, TurboTax has also teamed up with several other financial institutions to also offer their employees a discount on the software. So regardless if you pick this partnership or go through the BMO or TD Canada Trust offer, you’ll still save 20% from TurboTax. Some of the other deals include a free student filing offer and a few general discount offers, all of which you’ll find on our main TurboTax vouchers page.

So if this is your first year filing your taxes with TurboTax, simply create a free account and starting working on your return. You’ll have a chance to enter your income and expenses information – including any medical or child care related expenses. The program will guide you through all the important points and even give you real-time expected refund amounts as you go along. Once you reach the end, then you can decide if you want to file with TurboTax (at which point you will need to pay for it).
