Buy Parallels 9 Today & Get Parallels 10 Free!

parallels 10 free upgrade

Updated August 20th, 2014 – Our favorite free upgrade offer from Parallels is back! Buy a copy of Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac from the Parallels Online Store or any authorized reseller between August 1st and October 15th, 2014 and get a free upgrade to Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac. The upgrade is not automatically given on all orders so you will need to remember to make the request to Parallels by following the steps outlined below.

Here is how to redeem this offer:

  • Step 1: Purchase a qualifying version of Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac from the official Parallels Store or from any one of their authorized resellers (like Amazon, Best Buy, etc.). Qualifying versions include Desktop 9 for Mac full, upgrade, student and Switch to Mac editions. Ineligible versions include licenses sold under their Volume License Program, OEM versions purchased unlawfully, orders made from unauthorized resellers (including eBay), and Enterprise Edition licenses. If you’ve ordered outside of the purchase window, either before August 1st, 2014 or after October 15th, 2014, then you will not be able to qualify for this offer.
  • Step 2: If you purchase directly from the Parallels Store during the Tech Guarantee period, then there is nothing else you need to do as you will be automatically notified when Parallels 10 is released and an upgrade key will be sent to you automatically. If you purchased from an authorized Parallels reseller, you will need to follow out these instructions directly through Parallels customer support. You will need to provide them with a copy of your receipt as proof of purchase.
  • Step 3: Once you receive your activation key/serial number, you’ll be able to install the upgrade on your Mac.

The 2014 Tech Guarantee page has just been posted on Parallels.com and has all of the details for this offer. You can also read up on last year’s Tech Guarantee for 2013 for details on how this offer worked last year. Before you buy, you can also see our main Parallels Desktop 10 coupon codes page for the latest deals and learn more about what new improvements and features found in Parallels 10.

      Hey Mao,

Not sure what happened to the other links – But we just updated them so you should now be able to see all the details. The free upgrade lasts up until Oct 15th so you still have plenty of time left!

      Cheers,

I’m confused about what resellers are actually “authorized” by Parallels. I sent Parallels a message on Facebook and they replied saying that purchases on “Amazon Marketplace” are not eligible for the free upgrade. They linked me to this page: http://www.parallels.com/about/legal/reseller/

That page doesn’t offer a list of approved resellers, though. Your site offers links to a purchase of Parallels 9 that’s about $25 less than buying through Parallels site, but are you sure that buying through that link means that you are eligible for the upgrade? The item says “Sold by eSave SuperStore and Fulfilled by Amazon.” Is that “Fulfilled by Amazon” sufficient to qualify me for the free upgrade to Parallels 10?

    Many thanks – Dom

      Hi Dom,

When buying from Amazon, you it must say “shipped and sold by Amazon” to qualify for the free upgrade (here is the link and then click on “26 new from $47.99” below the price to find Amazon as the seller. I tried to link directly to it but Amazon won’t let me do it)… It’s a pretty good deal right now as it’s listed at the moment for $23.41 off the retail price (a 29% savings). “Sold by eSave SuperStore and Fulfilled by Amazon” or sold from another seller on Amazon’s Marketplace will not qualify for this deal so be careful. Buying from eBay also doesn’t qualify.

Please refer to this thread for confirmation that Amazon is an authorized reseller – Although it’s from a few years ago, Amazon is still an authorized reseller of Parallels Desktop software: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?113482-Parallels-7-Upgrade-Program-Amazon

      Hope this helps!

Thanks Eric – that’s helpful, but the link you sent has that same “Sold by eSave SuperStore and Fulfilled by Amazon.” text. I think this is the link you want: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ENFVLAQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

P.S. Parallels reps on Facebook are pretty useless, I’ve found this morning after trying to figure out where I can see a list of their authorized resellers. They simply ignore the question and tell me to buy on their website.

    Ben

Hi , I have Parallels Desktop 7. If I upgrade to version 9 using the Parallels Store – will I also have the opportunity to get a free upgrade to version 10? If not, what do you suggest I do? Buy the full version of 9 instead of upgrade version?

    • August 20, 2014

      Eric

      Hi Ben,

This is the best time to upgrade as it’s your last chance to do so to Parallels 9 and you will still be able to get Parallels 10 for free under their Tech Guarantee. If you wait until version 10 is out then you’ll have to buy it at full price (Parallels has a two-version-back upgrade policy).

      Cheers,
      Eric

    John Smith

    Hi,
Do you have the details published from Parallels? I ask because I just searched for the Tech Guarantee 2014 and it takes me to a page that doesn’t exist. When I did this same search on the 15th August 2014, the actual dates was 1st August 2014 to 15 October 2014 (purchase period) – but that link is now gone from Google search index as well. I am on their site but can’t seem to find the guarantee in the Buy page – just want to be 100% sure I am covered before making the purchase. Thanks.

      Hi John,

Looks like the links are not yet posted at parallels.com but we expect them to be soon (they are already sending emails to existing customers letting them know about the free upgrade offer to Parallels 10). If you’re unsure, just check back here in a few days as we’ll update this page with more info as soon as it’s available. Remember that also you’re covered by a 30 day “no questions asked” money back guarantee when ordering from parallels.com so worst case you can return then software (although we are 99% certain that you won’t have to as version 10 is expected to be released in the first half of September).

      Cheers,
      Eric

    Mark

Great, It looks like I just missed out on the free upgrade to version 10 as I just upgraded to 9 three weeks ago. Does anyone know if Parallels is flexible on the free upgrade policy?

    • August 19, 2014

      Eric

      Hi Mark,

No, you probably will not be able to qualify for this deal. However, you are still within then 30-day return policy window. I suggest that you request for a refund asap and re-order it again. You can find the return policy and instructions on on parallels.com.

      Cheers,
      Eric
